Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify socio-demographic factors related to health information seeking behavior among Asian immigrant women in Korea.

Methods: Data were drawn from 144 immigrant women who came from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and other countries using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program for descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and multiple regression.

Results: 91.7% of women sought the health information about child birth, child care, health promotion, and disease control. Original nationality, monthly income, and subjective health status significantly predicted health information seeking behavior in Asian immigrant women (adjusted R square= .256, p< .001).

Conclusion: To improve self-care ability and health care services accessibility in Asian immigrant women, health care professionals should consider factors related to health information seeking behavior.
